Reality In Review: Week Of October 28, 2007

Were you busy last week watching the clock, waiting for water, or working for peanuts? Don't worry -- I'll get you caught up on the important reality TV news you may have missed.

Are you a fan of Dog the Bounty Hunter? Well it may be awhile before you see any more episodes with Hawaii's favorite mulletman. A&E has pulled the show from its schedule indefinitely. The reason? Well it's not because he caught his long and luscious locks in a car engine. Seems he doesn't like one of his sons' girlfriend that much. Yes, that's an understatement. Nice to know that a man who considers himself a role model is filled with so much racist hate. If you'd like to listen to the phone conversations, you can do so here. Warning -- be sure to throw on some headphones first. You have to love this particular sentence in a statement that A&E released though: "We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun." I wonder if that means he'll be going to rehab for racism.

Guess what show just started a new season of filming. It's Survivor 16 or All-Stars 2 or best of the rest or something like that. Production began last week in Palau, the site of Survivor 10. The link above has a complete list of the former castaways that are rumored to be included in All-Stars 2 which, by the way, will only contain contestants from seasons 9 (Vanuatu) through 15 (China). Here are some of the rumored All-Stars 2 castaways: (former?) girlfriend of Jeff Probst, Julie Berry (S9); runner-up Katie Gallagher (S10) who was arrested for DUI four months after her season finished airing; Lydia Morales (S11), who lost her only son in a car accident in August 2006; Gary Hogeboom (S11), the undercover ex-Dallas Cowboys quarterback; Shane Powers (S12), the proud father of the son we never stopped hearing about named Boston; former reality porn star Ozzy Lusth (S13); the "either you loved her or you hated her" Parvati Shallow (S13); fan favorite Yau-Man Chan (S14) who is most known for giving the truck he won to "Dreamz" in exchange for a deal that "Dreamz" later reneged on; and finally our most favoritest skinny waitress and gravedigger from the current season (S15), Courtney Yates and James Clement. This is quite an interesting group! What do you think about these choices?

Most of the continent of Africa (along with a few other continents) continues to be up in arms over what went out over Big Brother Africa's feeds this last week. Depending on what you read, viewers either saw a couple of VERY inebriated people have an intimate moment or witnessed a rape. After the "incident", the feeds were cut and paramedics were brought in. The feeds resumed a short while later and Endemol is now under the gun even more than they had been concerning BBA. At least the producers have halted the pipeline of alcohol into the house for its last week of the show. Big Brother Africa ends on November 11.

Speaking of Big Brother, and if you can stand all of the pop-ups and talking ads, Cindy Rutolo Dietrich has a fascinating interesting interview with Big Brother 8 winner Dick Donato posted over at Reality TV Calendar. I appreciate candor as much as the next person but I wonder if there's such a thing as being too much of a dick. I pray I never seen him on my television again. Jaime Dugan, the latest castaway to get the boot on Survivor, gave a very long and very good interview to Christopher Roccio of Reality TV World. A couple of points: her and Erik are currently just friends and she says she knew the immunity idol was fake when she presented it to Jeff at tribal council. Hmm. They also have a great interview with Sheena Stewart who was the latest lady dumped by Brad on The Bachelor. Sabrina Bryan has a few words to say about her last dance on Dancing With The Stars and even the uber hot Maks had something to contribute concerning Sabrina and her partner Mark's exit.

It's now time for the speed round so hold on to your britches! Former Celebrity Fit Club's Da Brat was arrested for assaulting a waitress at Hotlanta's Studio 72 on Thursday. Also arrested for assaulting a waitress this week was winner of Big Brother All-Stars Mike "Boogie" Malin. Not a good week for waitresses eh? Meanwhile, Skating With Celebrities star Kristie Swanson had her assault charges dropped.

An ex of Anna Nicole Smith, who is currently serving prison time for threatening her with a knife, now wants his share of her inheritance. Carrie Ann Inaba says her clock is ticking. TIME opines on meerkats. The Hills' Audrina wants to do a movie. Know a nurse? If so, point them to the online nursing reality show 13 Weeks over at NurseTV.com. Carrie Underwood's sophomore effort, Carnival Ride, debuted at the
top of the album charts and There's Something About Miriam finally debuted on the FOX Reality Channel.

Have a great week everybody! Be sure to tip -- not hit -- your waitress. Because I'm not going to post your bond to get you out of the slammer.

Wow, that was kind of sad about Big Brother Africa. I saw some of the show at the beginning from the video clips on their website. Their version is definitely different from the US version. They have cameras in the shower, are allowed musical instruments, and have a lot of tasks to do. It was surprising for me to find out it was Richard, with Uffeneka, though. The last time I had watched it, he was heating up with Tatiana. He had seemed to me to be a really nice guy at first, agressively denying advances from other housemates, since he was just married. It's hard to say if it was rape, or what. It didn't sound too nice, though. They'd obviously had way too much to drink all around.

I'm looking forward to Survivor All Stars. I hope you're wrong about Courtney being there, though. I don't like her this season!

Courtney on All-Stars? She'd better do a whole lot more over the rest of this season than she's done so far! I see just about anyone else that's still in the game deserving the slot more than her, based on what we've seen so far.

I wasn't surprised to hear Jaime say that she "knew" the idol was fake. What would you have said? If she KNEW it was fake, she wouldn't have played it and embarassed herself. I think she was just trying to save face.

I had forgotten the rumor that the next Survivor is another all-stars! Can leave: Julie, Katie, Lydia and Shane. Can take: Gary, Ozzy, Parvati, Yau-Man, Courtney and James. Would also like to have seen: From S9 -- Ami, Dolly, Twila; from S10 -- Ian; from S11 -- Rafe; from S12 -- Cirie, Sally, Terry; from S13 -- Becky, Christina; from S14: Boo, Dreamz, Edgardo, Michelle and Frosti and Todd from S15.

Oh no, not another All Stars! Anything but another All Stars!!!! Shove bamboo up under my finger nails, hold my feet to the fire... anything but another All Stars!!!!

I'm sorry to say that although I'd like to see Yau Man again that he is not enough to make me put myself through the torture of another All Stars anything. They are never any good because they lack the vital ingredient of freshness.

And this I say not lightly... I will miss my first Survivor season this time if it is an All Stars.

So what do you think about BB possibly coming back early because of the writers strike? Any chance that could happen.

Personally, I don't want to see a Celebrity Big Brother. I don't care if it was a short 30-day stint in the house I really don't want to see it.

I'd rather Big Brother be just Big Brother from July to September and that's it. And I want strangers in the house for 2008 dammit!!! LOL
